Vodafone will continue to back the ultra-successful Ferrari team for the next two seasons, having agreed to extend its highly visible sponsorship deal with the multiple world champions.

The new agreement covers the 2005-06 seasons and, according to Vodafone's official statement, will play a key role in the company's ongoing strategy to align its brand with high-profile sporting 'properties'.

"We are very happy to continue our partnership with Ferrari, which has greatly enhanced our global brand profile and will enable us to continue to build Vodafone as one of the world's leading brands," chief marketing officer Peter Bamford explained, "We are looking forward to continuing our successful relationship, generating greater affinity for the Vodafone brand, and our products and services with our customers."

The agreement will continue to involve significant branding on both cars, to be driven by seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher and team-mate Rubens Barrichello, as well as the drivers' and pit-crews' overalls and helmets.

"Over the three year period which ends this year, our partnership with Vodafone has played a key role in our success, and we are firm believers in this association between two brands that represent excellence in their respective areas of activity," commented Ferrari team chief Jean Todt.
