McLaren driver, Juan Pablo Montoya has said that he could have been on pole in Turkey - if he hadn't been forced to go out in the first 'group of five'.

Montoya was forced to go out fourth in qualifying, after failing to finish the Hungarian Grand Prix and despite posting a time that will see him line-up on the second row of the grid, the Colombian felt his qualifying lap was only 'ok'.

"I know my time would have been so much better if I had done it later in the session," he added.

"The car is working well though and I have been strong in all sessions so far this weekend.

"The track is great and good fun to drive particularly when you have a competitive package and everything just comes together. There is no reason why I can't be strong in the race."

Team boss, Ron Dennis meanwhile added that JPM's efforts were 'satisfactory' considering he had to set a time early on.
