Ferrari kicked off the 'big' pre-Italian Grand Prix test at Monza Tuesday, Rubens Barrichello on track, alongside Felipe Massa, who will step into his fellow countryman's shoes next season, when he joins BAR.

Ferrari was the only team in action and both drivers were at the wheel of an F2005, completing over 150 laps between them.

Barrichello focused on set-up work and tyre testing, notching up 94 laps, the quickest in 1 minute 22.506 seconds.

Massa, meanwhile taking a break from his duties with Sauber, worked on getting to know the car and on fine tuning it. He managed 61 laps - his best a 1m 23.461s.

The Scuderia continue testing at Monza on Wednesday, when Massa will be joined on track by Ferrari test driver, Luca Badoer.

A host of other teams will also join proceedings on Wednesday, including McLaren, Renault, Williams and Toyota. Indeed all of the teams - bar possibly Minardi, are due to test at Monza this week, with the last day of running provisionally taking place on Friday.
