Following the earlier announcement that Christian Klien will, as expected, partner David Coulthard at Red Bull Racing in 2006, the Austrian drinks company has confirmed that Vitantonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed will be the two race drivers at the Scuderia Toro Rosso team.

Liuzzi will take on the role of team veteran despite only starting four Grand Prix during 2005, when he shared the second RBR seat with Klien, while youngster Speed will make the step up from GP2 to be the first American to compete in F1 since Michael Andretti's ill-fated stint with McLaren back in 1993.

Speed takes the second race seat despite suggestions that Red Bull could elect to place him in the third driver role. That role will now be taken by Team Switzerland A1GP driver Neel Jani - meaning all three drivers in the Scuderia Toro Rosso team are products of the Red Bull Junior Team.
