Red Bull Racing has announced that McLaren chief aerodynamicist, Peter Prodromou will join them at the end of this season.

According to reports by Reuters, Prodromou will continue to work at McLaren for the remainder of this year, before linking up with his former colleague, ex-McLaren technical director, Adrian Newey.

"It has been agreed by Red Bull Racing and Peter Prodromou that Peter will join the team as chief aerodynamicist later this year when his contract expires with McLaren-Mercedes," read a statement from RBR.

McLaren meanwhile added that while Prodromou will leave them, he will not be put on 'gardening leave'.

"Peter has been an integral part of the aerodynamics department for more than a decade," a spokesperson for Ron Dennis' team added.

"Peter continues to enjoy his role at McLaren and both parties have agreed that he will continue in his role throughout '06 and be involved in the preparations for '07. We are well aware that in the long term, Peter may develop his career elsewhere."
