Robert Kubica miraculously escaped serious injury after his monster smash in Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix, when he left the circuit at high-speed and his BMW-Sauber hit a concrete wall head-on before somersaulting back across the track in a haze of flying debris.

The accident occurred on lap 27 after the Pole narrowly clipped the back of Jarno Trulli's Toyota on the run down to the hairpin. After being checked over in the track's medical centre, Kubica was airlifted to Montreal's nearby H?pital du Sacr?-Coeur.

He has since been released as his injuries were confined to a mild concussion and sprained right ankle.
