As well as being happy to return to Indianapolis and perform in front of his home crowd, Scott Speed is pleased with the way that he and the Toro Rosso team has performed so far this season.

Although he has just two finishes from six races so far this season, the American reckons that the team and its STR2 chassis have shown a clear improvement over what it had in its debut campaign last year.

"I think the beginning of the year has been very good," he insisted, "We've had good races, but we've just been very unlucky. We haven't finished many but I think, especially starting from Barcelona, we've been at the right pace, or at a pace that was better than we expected. This weekend I expect to be at a similar pace to where we were in Canada but, once we get back to Europe, I think we have another improvement waiting for us."

Speed also admitted that it was good to have a contemporary design to drive, rather than the reworked car he and team-mate Tonio Liuzzi had to use last season.

"Certainly, having a car that's up to date is good for us because we can develop like everyone else throughout the year," he pointed out, "Last year, we pretty much had what we had at the very beginning and needed to try to make the best we could towards the end of the year."
