Felipe Massa has urged Ferrari to improve their package ahead of the European leg of the Formula 1 season after once again being outclassed by McLaren in the United States Grand Prix.

Ferrari have struggled to match McLaren since the Spanish Grand Prix and were evidently unable to tackle their rivals again at Indianapolis, a circuit that has traditionally proved a circuit kind to the Scuderia.

Now a substantial 35 points behind their rivals in the constructor standings after Massa and Kimi Raikkonen finished third and fourth respectively, Massa claims the team need to improve quickly as the season heads into a crucial stage.

"We can't be satisfied with third place. I did my best and I am happy to have got on the podium. We need to work out how to improve the car to get ahead of our closest rivals. We need to work flat out on the technical development to make up the ground lost over these past three races."

It is a view mirrored by Jean Todt, although he revealed the team will now go for a test at Silverstone that is intended to get them back to the level they were performing at in the first few races.

"Clearly the situation in the classification is getting more complicated but there are still ten races to go. Next week in Silverstone, we will try out some new developments which should help us in getting back to the level we were at from the start of the championship.

"We cannot deny we are disappointed with how the last few Grands Prix have turned out, but we strongly insist that we really want to turn the situation around."
