Red Bull Racing aces David Coulthard and Mark Webber continued the story of the squad's 2007 season during opening practice at Magny-Cours, with only one of them enjoying a trouble-free day.

This time it was Coulthard's turn to enjoy the team's share of good fortune, as the Scot ended both sessions comfortably inside the top six. He refused to get too carried away by the performance, however.

"It was a normal Friday session," Formula 1's senior statesman asserted, "evaluating tyres, chasing balance and getting the car set ahead of tomorrow. The times were promising, but I don't really get too excited about them on a Friday as qualifying is the important thing."

Team-mate Mark Webber certainly had little to get excited about during the day, winding up 20th in the morning session and 16th in the afternoon following niggling transmission woes.

"I'd just started a long run in the second session," the Australian explained, "and the car suffered a transmission problem so I had to stop. The second session on a Friday is important so it's a shame we couldn't run for all of the time, but we'll get information on the problem tonight and look into it ready for tomorrow."
