Super Aguri's Anthony Davidson has admitted that it was his fault he spun in Q1 coming out of Brooklands as he simply made a mistake.

Davidson's error meant he was unable to make it through to Q2 and as such he will start from 19th position on the grid. It also proved costly for his friend and rival, Jenson Button and his team-mate, Takuma Sato, as it brought out the yellow flags and compromised both of their laps, meaning they went out in Q1 too.

"It was obviously a disappointing qualifying session," he said. "It was always going to be tough trying to get into Q2 today. The car again did not quite have the speed like we saw in Magny-Cours, but I was confident that I could have pulled something out of the bag, until the last run, when I came out in a sea of traffic ahead of me on the opening of my lap as they came out of the pits, so I decided to abort the lap.

"I tried to find a good space and get a bit more heat into the rear tyres, but basically I overcooked it coming out of Brooklands, trying to get as much force into the tyres as possible and the car snapped on me."

Asked about the race on Sunday, Ant added though that anything could yet happen, especially as the 'great British summer weather' could yet throw a joker into the pack. He also believes that the SA07 will be better in the grand prix.

"I still believe that we have a better race car than qualifying and you never know, the British weather can be unpredictable, so I am looking forward to my first British Grand Prix tomorrow," he continued.

Super Aguri's sporting director, Graham Taylor meanwhile had little to smile about, especially as Takuma Sato didn't fare much better in the other car and will line up in 21st place.

"Poor," was Taylor's verdict on proceedings for them. "It's been getting tighter and tighter all year. This is one of the bigger circuits, so you'd think that there would be a bit more latitude, but there wasn't. Our cars did not have the performance today - and again our qualifying session was not error free."
