Scuderia Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost has played down suggestions that the Italian operation is 'at war' with its drivers, but admits that he'd be happy to see the back of Scott Speed.

The pair was involved in an altercation after the sudden change in conditions caused both Toro Rosso cars to crash out of the European Grand Prix in the early laps, Speed returning to he pits to be faced with an angry Tost wanting to know why he had spun out. A brief verbal exchange followed before Speed claims that Tost struck him - a fact that the Austrian denies.

"I asked Speed why he went off," Tost agreed in an interview with Switzerland's Blick, "He just smiled at me and asked why his pit-stop had taken so long, then he turned around and went. On that, I touched him on the shoulder: That is it. We cannot call it a 'pit war'."
