Team McLaren-Mercedes drivers' Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton have welcomed today's decision by the World Motor Sport Council, which ruled that the Woking-based team will face no penalty for its part in the spy row.

Speaking following the news, two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso noted that he knows just how important this is for Ron Dennis, McLaren, Mercedes and all the team back at HQ in Surrey.

"Having only been part of McLaren for a few months I know how important today's decision will be for everybody," said Fernando. "I am looking forward to an exciting second half of the season now and to continue our battle for both World Championships."

Britain's Lewis Hamilton, who currently leads the race for the 2007 drivers' title, 2 points up on Alonso, echoed those sentiments.

"Whilst it's only my first season in Formula 1 with the team, I already know and appreciate the commitment and dedication of the people there," he added. "As a result I am pleased with today's decision and can't wait for the rest of the season."
