Nico Rosberg is confident Williams are heading in the right direction after a productive day of testing for the Hungarian Grand Prix, the German setting the fourth fastest time around the Hungaroring.

Proving higher up the timesheets than normal by his own admission, Rosberg is looking to quell a disappointing run of form that has seen him slip further behind team-mate Alex Wurz in the driver standings following his fourth place finish at the Nurburgring.

Nonetheless, the German went about the right way to reaffirm his status by securing the seventh fastest time in the morning before improving to fourth quickest in the afternoon.

It was a day that gives him confidence for the remainder of the weekend, the former GP2 Series Champion claiming it is a start that bodes well for qualifying and the race.

"We are a bit higher up on the time sheet than we usually are on a Friday, which is a positive sign," he said. "Tyres are important this weekend and it's going to be difficult to make the right choice.

"We worked hard today and discovered some useful things and I think we now have a good idea which set-up direction to take. I am pretty pleased with our progress, obviously we can still improve, but we're heading in the right direction."
