Two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso came through to take the victory at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, the 13th round in the 2007 FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

Alonso, who started from pole, led from the off and although he dropped behind Kimi Raikkonen, after his first stop, the Spaniard was never really threatened throughout the 53-lap race.

Indeed while his McLaren team-mate, Lewis Hamilton, kept him honest early on, Fernando pulled away in the middle stint and eventually beat the Englishman by around 6 seconds.

Lewis lost second after his final stop, but soon dispensed with Raikkonen, to drop the Ferrari man to third.

BMW Sauber duo Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica completed the top five, while Nico Rosberg was sixth for Williams.

Heikki Kovalainen and Jenson Button rounded out the points scorers' in seventh and eighth.

Felipe Massa failed to finish after mechanical problems sidelined him early on, while David Coulthard was the only other retiree, when he crashed out on lap 1, which brought out the safety car.
