Despite the sting that came following their involvement in the spying scandal that engulfed Formula 1, one of McLaren-Mercedes key sponsors, Diageo, has revealed it will continue to support the team for another five seasons.

Associated through the legendary Johnnie Walker brand, the iconic 'Striding Man' logo will continue to adorn the silver arrows until the end of the 2012 season.

"Diageo and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes have agreed the terms of an extended sponsorship of the team by Johnnie Walker," said Ben Anderson, Marketing Director of Johnnie Walker. ?The final agreement is expected to be concluded in the next few days.

"Over its first two years, the Partnership has been a powerful platform to drive brand equity and deliver Diageo's responsible drinking messages and the extended sponsorship clearly demonstrates Diageo's resulting confidence in the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team as Partners for the future."
