McLaren has played down reports that its Woking base has been subject to an 'FIA raid'.

A team of independent legal and technical experts was sent in to begin the examination of the 2008 cars, but this has been expected since the FIA decreed that McLaren's new challenger would be examined closely for any evidence of Ferrari intellectual property.

According to some reports, the squad left the Surrey base with boxes of technical information, which is set to undergo further analysis before the WMSC hearing on 7 December.

A McLaren spokesman told Reuters, "We are unable to make any comment other than to say that an inspection has always been part of the World Motor Sport Council decision and of course we are co-operating fully with the FIA."
