Franck Montagny has completed his final act as a Toyota driver after the latest Formula 1 group test drew to a close at Catalunya.

The French driver, who only joined the team at the start of the season, ended on a high as he posted the third fastest time of the third day behind Heikki Kovalainen and Felipe Massa with his time of 1min 21.363secs being easily the quickest Toyota time of the week.

Bouncing back from his off on day two, Montagny continued to work on the electronics system and other development parts on his TF107 and declared himself pleased with his final day at the wheel.

"It was my last day driving for the team and it has been a good day, which I am happy about," he said. "Yesterday was not so great, we made a mistake on tyre pressures and we had a few problems, but today everything went pretty well - we set decent lap times and everything was very consistent. We worked hard and I think we have made a good step forwards.

"Even though this car is not the 2008 version, it still has quite a few new items on it and we have made good progress with them. I hope for the team that we have moved in the right direction. I would like to thank all the team for everything throughout the year because at times it has been a bit frustrating with a lot of watching and not as much driving. But everyone in the team has been very supportive and good with me and I have enjoyed working with them, so I thank them for that."

Toyota team president John Howett was amongst those to pay tribute to the outgoing test driver, stating that the team would miss having the former Renault man around.

"Working with Franck this year has been a very positive experience and he has given a lot to the team," he said. "His work at tests has been outstanding and he has helped us to continuously improve the performance of our car.

"He is an enthusiastic character who is also very dedicated to his work. We have enjoyed having him as part of the team and we will miss him."
