Having taken all honours at the 2007 season finale in Brazil, Ferrari is ready to win the opening race of the new Formula One season by presenting its 2008 car ahead of all its rivals.

A latecomer to the announcement stakes - along with 2007 rival McLaren - the Scuderia squeezed its launch in ahead of both Ron Dennis' operation and the likes of Toyota and BMW, which both believed they had claimed the upper hand in terms of early launches.

This afternoon, however, Ferrari will present its new machine - likely to be called the F2008 if the Scuderia decides to continue with its current naming scheme - in Maranello in front of an eager assembled press. The 2007 machine was saddled with an often unwieldy long wheelbase, and it will be interesting to see what lessons the Italian giant has taken on board in spite of its success.

World champion Kimi Raikkonen, team-mate Felipe Massa, technical director Aldo Costa, engine director Gilles Simon and operations director Mario Almondo are all expected to address the media during the launch, before the car is taken to Fiorano to complete its first shakedown laps, in Raikkonen's hands, on Monday.

Stay tuned for more as it happens....
