McLaren has confirmed Stoffel Vandoorne has been forced to take yet another Honda power unit ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, adding a further 25 grid positions worth of penalties to his tally.

The local driver was always destined to start from the back of the grid for his home grand prix debut after taking on new components ahead of the Spa-Francorchamps race as a result of a Honda power unit upgrade, but the detection of ‘potential issues’ has forced McLaren to swap it out again.

It means – in addition to his existing 40 grid penalties – Vandoorne has now added a further 25 grid penalty positions, bringing his tally up to a mammoth 65.

As a measure of his reliability issues this year, Vandoorne is already onto his ninth Turbocharger and MGU-H with 10 races remaining.
