Kimi Raikkonen says he is pleased to see Sebastian Vettel will be staying on board to form an unchanged driver line-up at Ferrari for the 2018 F1 season.

Ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix Raikkonen was confirmed to have extended his Ferrari deal for another season, only for the team to confirm Vettel will also remain until the end of 2020 this weekend.

With Vettel and Raikkonen known to have a strong working relationship at Ferrari, the Finn says he is happy to see the German alongside him once again as they bid to secure Ferrari its first world title since 2007.

“I think it’s no secret that we enjoy working together and it’s pretty straightforward. I think it’s not just good for us but also for the team," Raikkonen said.

“Obviously I think it’s the best thing but I don’t make the decisions, I just drive the car, but from my side I’m very happy and it’s very good for the whole team.”

Earlier this weekend Vettel pre-emptively returned the favour by revealing his pleasure at seeing Raikkonen re-sign.

“If he's happy, I'm happy! I think it's the other way around as well," Vettel said.

"Obviously he's had a troubled start to the season. The last couple of races have been a bit better. There's no discussion about his talent or his speed. It's nice to see that the team appreciates the work he is doing behind the scenes."
