Sebastian Vettel has had two penalty points added to his Formula 1 superlicence for causing a collision with Max Verstappen during the British Grand Prix.

Vettel lost a position to Verstappen at Stowe before he collided with the Red Bull driver under braking at the Vale chicane, sending Verstappen airbourne over the kerbs as both drivers ended up in the gravel.

Vettel was handed with a 10-second time penalty for the incident which dropped him to 16th in the final classification, behind both Willaims drivers and ahead of only Sergio Perez's Racing Point.

The German driver has now accumulated six penalty points in the current 12-month period. Drivers are hit with a one-race ban for reaching 12 points within a year.

Despite picking up damage to his RB15, Verstappen was able to salvage fifth place.
