Lando Norris will join Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly at the back of the Monza grid for the Italian Grand Prix after taking a raft of new power unit elements ahead of practice on Friday.

After teammate Carlos Sainz took the updated Renault engine in Belgium last weekend, Norris will follow suit by picking up the new part, taking a grid penalty in order to do so.

McLaren took advantage of Norris' pending penalty to also give the 19-year-old a fresh turbocharger, MGU-K, MGU-H and energy store, meaning he will start from the rear of the grid at Monza.

Norris will join Red Bull's Verstappen and Toro Rosso's Gasly at the rear of the field, with both Honda-powered drivers also taking a fresh engine ahead of the weekend.

Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc have also taken updated engines for the weekend, but take no penalty as they are still within their season allocation.
