Roberto Merhi will return to Formula 2 for the final two rounds of the 2018 season with Campos, replacing Roy Nissany.

Ex-Manor Formula 1 driver Merhi raced with MP Motorsport through the opening eight rounds of the F2 season, scoring a best finish of P3 in Monaco, but was replaced at the team by Dorian Boccolacci at Spa and Monza.

Campos Racing announced on Tuesday that Merhi would be joining its line-up for the final two rounds of the season in Sochi and Abu Dhabi in place of Nissany, teaming up with Luca Ghiotto.

“I’m pleased to make my comeback to the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Campos Vexatec Racing. We know each other perfectly and I think we aspire for big things in the remaining races,” Merhi said.

“Campos has a competitive car and, besides, I have gained valuable experience earlier this season. So I feel more prepared after achieving good results.”

Merhi sits 14th in the F2 standings heading into this weekend’s round at the Sochi Autodrom in Russia.
