John Martin led the Raikkonen Robertson Racing challenge in two competitive qualifying sessions at Silverstone ahead of the latest rounds of the British F3 International Series.

The Australian qualified on the second row for round 17, and will start seventh for round 18 after running strongly in both sessions, and he admitted he was confident of now turning his strong gird positions into results.

"I was fairly happy with my performance in first qualifying, but I just need to find another tenth," he said. "It's so competitive this weekend that even a few tenths can make a big difference and put you further down the field. We're starting a bit further down for race two, but I still think we can make up some places and get a good result."

Atte Mustonen, who leads the Double R challenge in the title race, qualified sixth and ninth for the two races, with F3 rookie Henry Arundel twelfth and 15th on the grid.

"Qualifying was extremely close today," team principal Anthony Hiett said. "In both sessions the top eight were covered by just half a second, so a small mistake can make a big difference to the final qualifying position.

"John did a great job and should be aiming for a podium in the first race. Henry has been quick here, but unfortunately he didn't quite tie together all his best sectors to produce the lap he is capable of. Atte seems to have struggled a little, but we've seen before how good he is making his way through the field, so I'm still confident he can get a good result."
