Red Bull junior Juri Vips charged to his first victory of the 2019 FIA Formula 3 season in Austria on Saturday after fending off Max Fewtrell and Marcus Armstrong to end Prema's winning streak.

Starting third on the grid, Vips managed to pass Fewtrell for second place early on before taking advantage of the three DRS zones at the Red Bull Ring to close up on Armstrong, eventually passing for the lead on Lap 5.

Despite coming under pressure from Fewtrell, Vips managed to stay firm at the front of the pack en route to victory for Hitech Grand Prix, crossing the line 1.7 seconds clear of the pack.

Fewtrell kept second despite a late lock-up, with Armstrong completing the podium after a side-by-side fight with Prema teammate Jehan Daruvala at Turn 4 on the final lap.

Championship leader Robert Shwartzman battled from ninth to fifth, while Lirim Zendeli clinched reverse grid pole for Sunday after finishing eighth.
