Felix Rosenqvist has demonstrated his European Formula 3 championship credentials with another superior drive for his second victory of the day at the Nurburgring, ahead of title rival Antonio Giovinazzi and Lance Stroll.

The Swedish driver battled through an abandoned start and two safety car periods to grab the win by almost five seconds from his nearest rival Giovinazzi who fought off rookie Stroll for second place but he never really challenged Rosenqvist for the win.

The Prema Powerteam driver now holds a 65.5-point advantage in the championship standings' and could potentially wrap up the title with another strong result in race three at the German circuit on Sunday.

Further back Jake Dennis recovered from a nightmare race one to grab fourth place ahead of Charles Leclerc and Japan F3 championship leader Nick Cassidy. Santino Ferrucci continued to collect solid points with a seventh place finish ahead of British duo George Russell and Callum Ilott with Mikkel Jensen rounding out the points-paying positions.

The original race start had to be abandoned after Raoul Hyman suffered a technical problem on the grid. There was brief confusion as the red lights remained on with some of the cars creeping off the start line but thankfully any collisions were narrowly avoided.

The aborted start saw the race reduced by one lap and all drivers got away cleanly in the second start, with Rosenqvist blasting clear of the chasing pack as Stroll drove around the outside of Giovinazzi at turn one to take second place.

The Euro F3 championship leader pulled out over three seconds on Stroll before it was wiped out when a number of incidents in the mid pack forced a safety car period to clear the debris and abandoned cars.

After a couple of laps behind the safety car it returned to the pits at the end of lap seven as Rosenqvist sprinted clear but it was to no avail as a second safety car period was needed almost instantly. Gustavo Menezes locked up a turn one and was stranded in the gravel trap, requiring a recovery vehicle to come on to the track to rescue his car.

Wing Chung Chang had a moment of madness which resulted in him being black flagged from the race. The Chinese driver got over-excited keeping heat in his tyres and slid into the rear of Matt Rao's machine which caused him to spin out. Desperate to make up for his embarrassing error, he overtook a number of drivers heading into the pits under the safety car, resulting in an automatic black flag.

At the second restart Giovinazzi mugged Stroll into the final turn to take second while Rosenqvist once again steered clear of any danger.

The Euro F3 field settled down in the run to the chequered flag with Rosenqvist taking his 11th victory of the season and another important step to the drivers' crown.
