Jehan Daruvala took his second straight FIA Formula 3 victory after dominating Saturday's opening race at Paul Ricard, heading up a one-two finish for Prema Racing.

Starting second on the grid, Daruvala held position early on before reeling in pole-sitter Jake Hughes, who saw his two-second advantage evaporate nearing half-distance.

Daruvala dived past Hughes for the lead at the final corner before pulling clear of the pack, comfortably taking victory as his Prema teammates scrapped for the remaining podium places.

Hughes defended from both Marcus Armstrong and Robert Shwartzman as the trio traded places back and forth, only for Hughes to lock up heading into the chicane and hit Armstrong, spinning both cars out of contention.

This allowed Shwartzman to take second place ahead of Pedro Piquet, who completed the podium in third for Trident.

Red Bull youngster Juri Vips took fourth ahead of Bent Viscaal and Armstrong, who finished sixth ahead of Yuki Tsunoda, while Alex Peroni was classified eighth to grab reverse grid pole for Sunday.
