Robert Shwartzman extended his lead at the top of the FIA Formula 3 drivers' championship after charging from seventh on the grid to win Sunday's race at Paul Ricard, with a stunning double-overtake sending him en route to victory.

Shwartzman ran fifth in the early stages of the race before battling his way into the lead, getting a tow on early leaders Alex Peroni and Yuki Tsunoda on the Mistral Straight to launch past them both in one move.

Peroni and Tsunoda both went off-track while trying to keep their places, allowing Pedro Piquet and Saturday winner Jehan Daruvala to get ahead and move into the podium positions.

Shwartzman leads Daruvala by 12 points at the end of the weekend, with Prema teammate Marcus Armstrong - who started third, dropped to 29th after stalling on the grid and recovered to fifth in the race - sitting P3 in the drivers' standings.
