Battersea Park has been named as the venue for London's round of the inaugural FIA Formula E Championship, taking place on July 27th 2015.

Announced during the official Formula E launch in London, it was confirmed that the ePrix will be within the grounds of Battersea Park in the Borough of Wandsworth, South London, with more details - including the exact layout - to be announced at a later date.

The London event brings the curtain down on the first all-electric Formula E season, which kicks off in Beijing on 13th September, with further events to be held in Malaysia, Uruguay, Argentina, Monaco, Germany and the United States (Long Beach and Miami).

For Mayor of London Boris Johnson, the arrival of Formula E to the streets of the city is a fitting boost to the capital in its efforts to lower congestion and emissions, while Battersea itself represents an ideal venue as it continues its major regeneration.

"Fast, fun, and no doubt furious, the FIA Formula E Championship race in London is set to provide an awesome addition to the capital's sporting calendar. The atmosphere will quite literally be electric and Battersea, which is already booming with the buzz of regeneration, will be alive with the excitement that this new, world-class event will no doubt spark.

"Hosting the championship final of this all electric race is a fantastic feather in our city's sporting cap. It shows that there is great confidence in London's ability to stage the biggest and the best global sporting events, which play such an important role in boosting our economy and our international reputation."
