Sebastien Buemi has returned to the top spot on the third day of official Formula E pre-season testing with the fastest lap around Donington Park thus far.

Following the first two days of Formula E mileage last week, the ten teams have resumed for two more days of development around the Leicestershire circuit in preparation for the inaugural all-electric season, which kicks off in China in September.

Leading the pack was former F1 driver and sportscar racer Sebastien Buemi, the Swiss driver's afternoon time of 1min 31.910secs not only dipping beneath 1min 32secs, but proving the fastest lap of the test thus far for the Renault-backed e.dams team.

Though not confirmed with any team as yet, Jerome d'Ambrosio continued to make an impressive pitch towards the available China Racing drive as a late improvement saw the Belgian go second quickest, ahead of Lucas di Grassi, whose morning time was enough to put him third on the overall timesheets.

Stephane Sarrazin and Jamie Alguersuari made it five different teams inside the top five or Venturi and Virgin Racing, while Buemi's team-mate Nicholas Prost followed in sixth position.

Of the drivers it was Sarrazin that was busiest, the experienced sportscar and rally driver notching up 65 laps in total over the course of the day, far more than anyone else. Team-mate Nick Heidfeld, however, was not in attendance.
