Former Toro Rosso Formula 1 driver Scott Speed is set to make his Formula E debut at the upcoming Miami ePrix for Andretti team.

The American will join Jean-Eric Vergne at Andretti and has already enjoyed his first taste of Formula E driving during in a pre-season test. The 32-year-old currently competes for the American race team in the Red Bull global rallycross series.

"It's been so long since I raced an open-wheel car, I feel like I am getting ready for the first day of school," Speed said. "So much excitement, having this opportunity with Andretii is amazing. It's super cool to be able to race so many different cars within one team. I am anxious to get to Miami and I am up for the challenge."

The Andretti team hasn't yet confirmed whether Speed will be entered for subsequent rounds after the Miami ePrix on the 14th March, with the championship staying in the US for round six at Long Beach, California.

Andretti currently sit fourth in the teams' standing and had been leading after the opening round in Beijing.
