Andretti Formula E team and Amlin have agreed a partnership for the second season of the FIA Formula E championship.

The insurance company had backed Team Aguri during the inaugural Formula E championship season but announced the split after the finale in London in June. Amlin is set to throw its weight behind the US team Andretti for the 2015-2016 campaign.

The new partnership will be officially unveiled at the opening test session at Donington Park on Monday 10th August which begins the build up to the first race of the new season in Beijing on 17th October.

Andretti team owner Michael Andretti said Amlin's presence in promotion of Formula E is what attracted the team and is hoping to secure a multi-year partnership.

"Amlin did such a good job promoting their team in season 1 we're really looking forward to what this new partnership can bring in the coming years," Andretti said.

Charles Philipps, CEO of Amlin, added: "Amlin and Andretti were quick to spot the potential of Formula E. Both organisations are data driven and tech-focused, meaning there is much to look forward to over the coming seasons.

"Fans have a lot to look forward to in this season, we can't wait to get started and really see what the technology can deliver as we push the limits."
