Renault e.dams and Nicolas Prost have ended the final pre-season test day on top at Donington Park as Formula E gears up for the season opener in Beijing.

The French driver, who along with team-mate Sebastien Buemi, have both been an almost constant presence at the top of the timesheet and set his fastest lap, a 1m 30.513s, during the morning session. Heavy rain hampered the afternoon running, denying any of the drivers the opportunity to lap faster than Prost.

Prost set the lap at 170kw power which is the planned race power for season two of Formula E and was delighted to end pre-season testing on a high.

"Last week we were a bit lost but the last two days from my side have been really positive," Prost said. "We had a really, really good pace. I'm quite happy but not over-confident as Abt was looking really strong, Sam Bird is looking strong. Reliability for us has been good too.

"For me and my driving style I think it's better to have more power. It makes it a lot nicer to drive. 170kw makes it more challenging."

The Formula E teams began the day with a minute's silence to pay respect to the death of Justin Wilson who passed away due to his injuries he suffered at Pocono Raceway in IndyCar on Sunday.

Renault e.dam enjoyed a near-perfect day with Buemi taking second place on the timesheet ahead of Jerome D'Ambrosio for Dragon Racing and Mahindra Racing's Bruno Senna in fourth.

Stephane Sarrazin made some significant progress in the Venturi machine to end the day fifth quickest ahead of DS Virgin Racing's Jean-Eric Vergne and Dragon's Loic Duval; with Robin Frijns, Jacques Villeneuve and Stefano Coletti rounding out the top ten.

Trulli's Vitantonio Liuzzi finally made a venture out of the pits at Donington Park after struggling to run in the previous pre-season tests but was unable to record a timed lap.

The second season of the FIA Formula E championship kicks off with the Beijing ePrix on October 17.
