Julio Moreno has been named as reserve driver for Team Aguri in the Formula E championship and will combine his 2016 with a full campaign in EuroFormula Open championship.

The 20-year-old Ecuadorian spent last season in the FIA European Formula 3 championship with Threebond with T-Sport but failed to score a single point all year. Moreno is relishing the role and working in brand new surroundings.

"This is a great team with very talented drivers and engineers, and I'm excited to be a part of it," Moreno said. "Formula E is something completely new and is already extremely popular with motorsport fans worldwide, and I look forward to working with the team."

Mark Preston, team principal of Team Aguri, says he hopes Moreno can use the role to develop his burgeoning career.

"Julio is a promising driver who has great experience for someone of his age, having competed in single seaters for the past four years," Preston said. "It's great to welcome him to the team and we hope to provide him with the skills and opportunities to further his career."

Team Aguri recently announced that Salvador Duran had re-joined the team, with the Mexican making his season debut in Buenos Aires, having raced for the outfit in the inaugural Formula E season.
