Sebastien Buemi had the honour of becoming the first driver to top a practice session for Formula E's jaunt to the centre of France's capital city for the inaugural Paris ePrix.

In a remarkably close first session of the day, little more than a second would cover the pace setting Renault e.dams of Buemi all the way down to Oliver Turvey in 16th position.

The former F1 driver headed up championship leading ABT schaeffler driver Lucas di Grassi, with Stephane Sarrazin flying the flag for the local drivers in the third place Venturi.

Sam Bird led DS Virgin's challenge in fourth position, ahead of Loic Duval, who fared significantly better than his Dragon Racing team-mate Jerome d'Ambrosio who stopped no track and failed to set a representative time.

New to Formula E this weekend, Ma Qing Hua was 17th out of the 18 drivers in the Gulf-backed Team Aguri car.
