Team Aguri has confirmed Rene Rast will make his FIA Formula E debut at his home Berlin ePrix round this weekend in place of the unavailable Antonio Felix da Costa.

With Portuguese racer da Costa unavailable as he will be competing in DTM this weekend, Team Aguri has called upon Audi-backed sportscar ace Rast to return to single-seaters for the German race, where he will be paired with Ma Qing Hua.

Currently competing in the World Endurance Championship and the Blancpain Sportscar series, it will be the first time Rast has raced single-seaters since Formula BMW.

"While these cars have their own unique demands, I am confident that I can get up to speed quickly and use my experience in energy management to deliver a strong result for the team."

"I would also like to thank my manager Dennis Rostek from Pole Promotion, who worked with Audi Sport, Hans Joachim Stuck the President of DMSB, and long-term partner Porta M?bel to secure this drive."

This year's Berlin ePrix will be held at a new inner city circuit after last year's inaugural event took place at Tempelhof Airport.
