Lamborghini has confirmed that it will be continuing the development and testing programme for its Murci?lago R-GT by competing in the last round of the FIA GT Championship at Monza this weekend.

The R-GT was out on track at the A1-Ring circuit for its third test session since launch this week, with Rinaldo Capello once again at the wheel, as he was for the car's roll-out test in Vallelunga. Capello and former ALMS team-mate Tom Kristensen will pilot the car at Monza, as original Estoril pilots, Oliver Gavin and Peter Kox are locked in ALMS battle at Road Atlanta.

"We are pleased by the potential the car has shown during testing," Automobili Lamborghini marketing manager Manfred Fitzgerald confirmed, "The R-GT was unveiled less than six weeks ago, and we have already realised significant progress.

"This race car is the result of an extensive development programme within an extremely short period, and we are looking forward to using the R-GT in race conditions for the first time. Being able to participate at Monza will provide the team with valuable feed-back for the next stage of our performance development programme."
