The last round of the FIA GT Championship at Monza on the weekend welcomed back Italian Gabriele Lancieri, who made a good impression on spectators and team alike by taking the #15 Lister Storm from ninth to seventh during his hour of the race.

The Imola-based driver was making only his second appearance in the series, having partnered team-mates Andrea Piccini and David Sterckx at the Spa 24 Hours, but performed well and was able to set competitive times during his run.

"This season was looking rather uneasy for me, but it ended on a positive note," the former F3000 pilot admitted, "Although my seventh place here may not be the top result, I am very satisfied with my performance - and satisfied my team-mates and the team, which is all the more important.

"We were in ninth place at the end of the second hour, when David Sterckx handed the car over to me. The first few laps were very demanding, as the tyres hadn't had time to warm up and, as I didn't have that much experience with this type of car, I preferred not to take any risks and waited till the tyres were at the right temperature. After a few laps, I began to match the times set by the leaders and inherited two positions.

"It was a good outcome, which was made possible thanks to my sponsors who have supported me for all of these years. We now have to dedicate our time to next year's season, and I now know that my future lies in the covered-wheel categories.Together with my manager Giovanni Minardi, we will evaluate all of our options so I can be a protagonist next year."
