Fairuz Fauzy and Esteban Guerrieri have been dropped out of the points following the first World Series by Renault race of the weekend at the Nurburgring after feeling the wrath of the post-race stewards.

Fauzy lost second place finish after his Fortec Motorsport car failed a technical scrutiny check, the Malaysian driver having ten valuable points taken away from him in the process.

Guerrieri, meanwhile, received a 25secs penalty after cutting the Veedol chicane and being considered to have gained an advantage. The Argentine had been fourth on the road, but a late safety car period that bunched the field up means he has plummeted down to 12th place and out of the points.

Their woes do benefit a number of drivers though, with Giedo van der Garde jumping up to second place to further extend his championship lead, while Mikhail Aleshin now rounds out the podium.

Salvador Duran is classified fourth, ahead of Bertrand Baguette in fifth, while Pablo Sanchez completes a great day for Interwetten in sixth.

Pippa Mann, meanwhile, sees her best ever result of ninth place bumped up to seventh, ahead of Claudio Cantelli, Mario Romancini and Siso Cunill, the 17-year-old scoring a well deserved point on his World Series debut with KTR.
