Marcos Martinez has been given a 25-second penalty for causing an avoidable collision at the start of the World Series by Renault race at Estoril.

The Spaniard led the race early on after colliding with Marco Bonanomi and Bertrand Baguette, the duo eventually being forced to retire with damage.

Martinez went on to finish second, to equal his and Pons Racing's best result of the season, but had 25 seconds added onto his overall time after the race, thus dropping him to 11th place and out of the points.

Alvaro Barba is the big beneficiary, jumping up to second place, while Robert Wickens rises to third for Carlin. Filip Albuquerque moves from 11th to tenth to score a point on his World Series return.
