Louis Deletraz will take a three point lead into the final round of the Formula V8 3.5 Championship in Barcelona after a second place finish in race two at Jerez saw him leapfrog long-time championship Tom DIllmann.

The Swiss youngster has been closing on the out-of-form AVF driver throughout the latter half of the season and second place behind Egor Orudzhev, coupled to Dillmann's lacklustre run to eighth in Spain, sees him turn around an 11 point deficit into a three point advantage.

Victory in race two for the fourth time this season went the way of Orudzhev, the Russian driver's inconsistent 2016 form finding its peak again as he jumped from fifth to first at the lights and held firm to the chequered flag from Deletraz.

Matthieu Vaxiviere notched up his second podium of the weekend in third place, with Jack Aitken marking his maiden FV8 weekend with a fine run to fourth for RP Motorsport from Beitske Visser, whose fifth place marks her best result of the season.

Race one winner Matevos Isaakyan followed in sixth from Rene Binder, charging from the back of the grid to seventh, with Dillmann left a disgruntled eighth.

Dillmann had provisionally lost the championship lead in race one after a collision with Deletraz left him out of the race. However, stewards would later penalise Deletraz, putting Dillmann back ahead, only to lose his advantage in race two.
