Injured F3000 star Mario Haberfeld will be back in action at Magny-Cours this weekend, following a successful test in Austria last week.

The Brazilian, hurt in a qualifying accident in Barcelona three races ago, returned to the cockpit of his Fortec Motorsport Lola in a mass test at the A1-Ring in midweek and, although he admits that his left leg is still causing him some pain, he believes he will be fully fit by Friday.

''My right calf is still not 100 per cent,'' Haberfeld told journalists, ''but it will be by the time I get to Magny-Cours. It felt good to be back in the car though - you wouldn't believe how hard it has been to miss the last two races while I recovered.''

Briton Jamie Davies, who filled in for the Brazilian at both the Nurburgring and Monaco, will remain with Fortec as driver coach to the less experienced Andreas Scheld. The Englishman drove in last week's test and remains hopeful of picking up a full-time ride during the season.
