The Prost Junior F3000 team has revealed Zsolt Baumgartner as a surprise replacement for Nicolas Filiberti for the rest of the current season.

The 20-year old Hungarian will make his F3000 debut at this weekend's Nurburgring round, and remains with the French team until the end of the season, with an option on his services for 2002.

Baumgartner started his racing career in karts, before progressing through Formula Renault and Formula Three, mainly in Germany, and is the first Hungarian to race at F3000 level. Already committed to an F3 campaign for 2001, he will continue to contest both formulae as far as possible.

Baumgartner comes into the Prost line-up alongside Gabriele Varano as permanent replacement for Argentine Filiberti, who stood down before the Monaco race last month. French veteran - and Prost GP test driver - Stephane Sarrazin stepped in for that event, but always maintained that he was not looking to return to F3000.
