Polesitter Tomas Enge won a typically processional F3000 encounter at the Nurburgring, leading unchallenged from lights to flag.

The amount of action in the 33 lap race can be judged by the fact that attention focused on 'battles' down the order rather than at the front, as Enge romped away from the field to take his second win of the year and close the gap on championship leader - and Nordic Racing team-mate - Justin Wilson.

While Wilson, who qualified poorly by his standards, retired with what looked like a brake problem, his main competitors closed the gap, with Mark Webber taking second behind Enge to hold third overall in the standings.

Ricardo Sperafico made the most of his good grid place to take a maiden F3000 podium, finishing ahead of Belgium's David Saelens and fellow countrymen Ricardo Mauricio and Antonio Pizzonia.
