Team Durango drivers Giorgio Pantano and Raffaele Giammaria finished qualifying today [Friday] for the FIA F3000 race at Monte Carlo, in third and ninth positions respectively.

Pantano dominated free practice and was always first or second quickest, during qualifying it was a similar story and it was only in the last few minutes of the session that he lost out, due to traffic and yellow flags.

The Italian though was still happy and commented: "This is my best qualification in Monaco, but I'm sorry I didn't find the right lap, because of the traffic and the several yellow flags which impeded me to start in the very front position.

"My car is very good and I like the changes of the track, but it's still very difficult to overtake. At least now it seems that we solved the problems with the engine."

His team-mate, Giammaria also went quite well to set a time within the top 10, especially considering this is his first outing on the notoriously difficult Monte Carlo track.

"Today I'm satisfied, it's my first time in Monaco and here experience is very important," said Giammaria, "I'm happy with my ninth place, even if of course I'm sorry I lost the seventh place I kept until a few minutes from the end, but unfortunately traffic problems made me loose two positions.

"My car is ok, we have to set some little particulars for the race but we are definitely at a good point. The race tomorrow is long and we will do our best. During the last two races I had engine problems, now it has been changed and my performance is like it was at the beginning of the season, and I'm able to start from the top ten."
