The first race of the rebranded Superfund Euro 3000 series has been re-scheduled for 2 May following the cancellation of what would have been a ground-breaking debut in the Gulf.

The 2004 campaign will now kick off at Enna-Pergusa two months later than planned, as the original season opener, scheduled to take place on the new circuit in Bahrain on 19 March, was cancelled. Although construction of the Formula One standard circuit near to Manama is well under way, priority will now be given to finalising the facility for the inaugural Bahrain GP in early April, and the decision-makers behind the Euro 3000 series, in agreement with those at the Bahrain International Circuit, have decided to cancel the planned maiden event due at the new track.

The Euro 3000 schedule will now consist of ten races between May and November, taking place predominantly in Europe ahead of the season finale, which is still slated to take place in Dubai.

The revised Euro 3000 schedule is as follows:

May 2 Enna-Pergusa Italy
May 30 Estoril Portugal
June 6 Jerez Spain
June 27 Monza Italy
July 18 Spa-Francorchamps Belgium
August 30 Donington Park Britain
September 12 Dijon-Prenois France
September 19 Zolder Belgium
October 31 Cagliari Italy
November 28 Dubai United Arab Emirates
