The turbulent Euro 3000 calendar threw up one final twist on the eve of its recently-scheduled double-header finale, with the cancellation of both races in the Sicilian city of Cagliari.

Reported financial problems means that the popular street circuit is unable to stage rounds nine and ten of the series, which has already seen more than its fair share of date changes and upheaval this year. The second race in Cagliari had only been added a week or so earlier, following the series cost-conscious decision not to press ahead with a proposed trip to the new circuit in Dubai.

The races have since been moved to the N?rburgring, which was originally dropped from the schedule after hosting Euro 3000 races over the past two seasons. Assured of a place on the replacement Formula Superfund calendar next season, the German circuit has stepped in at the last moment to ensure that the 2004 season ends on its appointed date - 29-31 October.

Free practice and qualifying for round nine will take place on the Friday, with qualifying for the season finale preceding the first race on Saturday. A warm-up session and round ten will then complete the weekend, and the season, on Sunday. The Euro 3000 series joins forces with the already scheduled historic racing programme.
