Promising young Swede Alx Danielsson has agreed a deal with French outfit DAMS to contest the World Series by Renault this year.

Danielsson, who raced in the Formula Renault V6-series last year taking one victory at the final race weekend in Dubai, will partner Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado.

"It's an excellent opportunity for me," he said. "DAMS is a very professional team that will give me what is needed to challenge for the title."

DAMS managing director Eric Boullier was delighted to have finally signed the Swede having just missed out last year.

"I met Alx when he was racing in Formula Ford and he tested with us in the FRV6 in December 2003," he added. "Unfortunately we did not manage to reach an agreement for 2004 and today I am delighted to welcome him in the team, he is a very good competitor and the experience he gained last year in FRV6 will be important for us."

Danielsson will get his first test with DAMS this coming weekend, when he will drive a 2004 World Series car at Paul Ricard, in France.
