The GP2 teams and drivers undertook a full day's testing at Paul Ricard as part of a two-day test in the South of France on Tuesday with Durango and iSport drivers setting the fastest times in the morning and afternoon sessions respectively.

Lucas di Grassi posted a lap of 1min 15.311secs in the morning run, marginally ahead of fellow Brazilian Nelson Piquet Jr in the Piquet Sports car, with Clivio Piccione third in the DPR machine, clocking a best time of 1min 15.377secs.

di Grassi completed 27 laps whilst the next two drivers, Piquet and Piccione, completed 35 and 34 respectively. The top three were followed by Franck Perera in the DAMS outfit and Ernesto Viso in fifth.

Of the ART drivers, Alexandre Premat emerged the quickest in tenth place, with team-mate Lewis Hamilton posting a time of 1min 15.898secs and finishing his morning's work in 13th place.

As the weather picked up in the afternoon, and sunny conditions replaced the overcast morning session, German iSport driver Timo Glock set the fastest time of 1min 14.552secs as the lap times dropped, Glock completed 31 laps, and was followed on the timesheets by team-mate Ernesto Viso and Jose Maria Lopez for Super Nova.

The Trident Racing cars enjoyed a solid first day of the test with Andreas Zuber ending up sixth quickest ahead of Italian team-mate Gianmaria Bruni in 17th.

"We are satisfied because we completed our schedule picking up all the data we wanted," said Trident race engineer Stefano Alessi. "Thanks to both our drivers, who drove an amazing total of 137 laps, we have a massive amount of data. Anyway, we already spotted quite precisely the good things and the bad ones to be fixed."

Hamilton finished fourth after 26 laps with Primat just 0.030secs behind. Adam Carroll ended the day in seventh in the Racing Engineering machine, with a time of 1min 15.229secs, an improvement on the morning running where the Brit finished 16th.
