Having come under considerable pressure from him in recent races, Alex Premat continued to keep Timo Glock at bay for third in the GP2 Series standings after holding the German off for much of the feature race at Istanbul, Turkey.

Now officially out of the title reckoning, Premat has now settled on fighting for his long-time held third place in the championship, something that has come increasingly under threat from the in-form Glock in the second half of the season.

Nonetheless, Premat managed to get a good start from fourth on the grid to exit the first corner in second place and although he conceded to ART team-mate and championship contender Lewis Hamilton soon after, the Frenchman was solid in third place to the finish, securing his eighth podium finish of the year.

"I took a really good start, I was second but the car was pretty hard to drive in the first sector and I was not really confident," he said. "When I stopped early the car was much better, no oversteer but a lot of understeer. I think I had a good race and with Timo Glock it was not really easy to keep him behind me.

"On the last lap I had some problems, I don't know why, but something switched off I think so it was so close in the last lap and I'm very happy to finish third for the championship."

Together with Hamilton's second place finish, ART Grand Prix have officially secured the teams' championship for the second year in succession, with Premat thanking the French squad for their achievements over the season.

"This is a good result once again like last year. The mechanics, the engineers the boss, they all did a really good job so I want to say thank you to them for helping us get these results. Every time we race I am reminded this is a really good team."
